Schaum's Outline of Russian Vocabulary (Schaum's Outline)

If you are learning Russian to read and write in Russian only this book is for you. However, if you also want to speak in Russian this book will not help you.

In order to pronounce Russian words correctly it is essential to know which vowel is the stressed vowel. This is important because the pronunciation of some vowels changes significantly when stressed compared to when unstressed, e.g. the letter "o". Frustratingly, this book presents useful lists of words but does not indicate the stressed vowels, meaning that it is impossible to know how to pronounce words with more than one vowel.

If the stressed vowels were indicated this would be a useful book. However in its current form it is more of a hindrence than a help.
