Again - ratings are up to you...

To the student - you might find this book helpful for last minute revision for A level Film and Media Studies exams this June - we put revision lists at the back of the book arranged by topic, so that you can see at a glance which terms you could use in your exam answers under specific topics, such as Genre, Narrative or New Media etc.

Good luck!

To the teacher - even though the specifications for all A levels will change from September 2008, the key Media and Film concepts and terms will not (except for the odd neologism, which we hope to add in future editions), so we designed this book to have shelf life and relevance across the board.

Ratings are for readers to decide on - the ratings field required a rating to be processed!

Whichever exam board you're studying for your GCSE or A level in Film or Media Studies, we designed this dictionary to be of help to you all.

Likewise, if you're starting a degree course this Oct in a media/film-related subject, this might be a useful reference book.

If you're an academic or a media professional and there are terms you think we ought to include or definitions you disagree with, please
get in touch with us via the publishers, Hodder, so we can consider them for future editions.

To paraphrase the screenwriting guru, Robert McKee, "Writing's easy, you just stare at the blank page until your forehead bleeds.". This was never more true than with the writing of a dictionary such as this!
