The book is written as though it is for children, which is exactly what I required for my father inlaw, as he is Chinese and wants to improve his English. The most important aspect is that he can hear the words as well as looking at the words - and he can pause the cd and repeat when necessary. The exercises in the book are great and are at just the right level. The cd-rom is also a great idea as it incorporates visual and hearing together. I think that the good thing about this book is that it is very basic, which is good for beginners and those who teach them. So, it is simple, clear and easy-to use.
