Spelling for Literacy: For Ages 7-8 (Spelling for Literacy)

Contains straightforward (bordering on boring) photocopiable worksheets. Of the three sheets, the first is a list of up to 16 words in large type, the second is a basic "worksheet" containing minimal exercises.
The last is a list of the same words with two spare colums for "write/cover/check"

It simply regurgitates the NLS spelling bank words with little added value and minimal discussion/explanation of the "rules" behind spelling.

Having previously used Jolly Grammar 2 for spelling at KS1, I was disappointed with the worksheets.

A useful book for using, teaching and learning spellings within the literacy hour. Gives 3 sheets per set of words - word sets that can be made into word cards, a look, cover, write, check sheet and a follow up activity sheet - very useful as homework. Linked to different weeks in the term and covers y1 and 2. Helps when your mind goes blank!

With all the pressures on teachers to find appropriate weekly spellings I have found these photocopiable lists with activity sheets very useful. They are based on NLS termly objectives.
However, the activity sheets don't involve a great deal of investigation.
