Singing for Dummies (For Dummies (Lifestyles Paperback))

As a seasoned singer, I try to read as many books on the subject
as possible.

This is a good book for beginners, but aviod the chapter
on 'Belting', Belting is a really bad idea for new singers,
it takes years to get it right and you can really hurt yourself
if you don't.

BTW the CD with this book is quiet a good practice.

I felt that Gloria Bennett's book 'Breaking Through' was, on the
whole much better for basic technique.

I only got this book a little less than a week ago after my mum told me about it, and having read all the reviews on it, i decided to give it a try. My family and my friends say i sing very well, but i don't totally agree since i always compare myself to the likes of artists like Mario and Stevie Wonder(but that isn't fair because they've been practising for years).Now that i've got this book, i'm hoping to hear and feel improvements in my singing potential.
My voice hasn't changed much since i've had it for less tha a week, but,i've browsed through a lot of the exercises, for breathing, improving your posture, vocal range and tone and having tried them i now feel slightly more comfortable with my voice.
In two or three months time, i'll write another review and rate the book according to how it's helped me and whether it's worth recommending to others who are interested in improving their singing skills.
But till then, i'll sing and you never know, maybe i'll be the next Mario or even better.

I bought this book because I wanted to improve my singing for music exams. It's brilliant, and has helped me a lot with my technique, I've improved alot without any formal tutoring.
