ABOUT THIS BOOK

USER REVIEWS

An essential (though costly) text for university students

This book is a on almost all core reading lists for many degress including speech therapy and related biology and physiology courses. I'm a speech therapy student and to be honest my first thought when seeing this book on my core reading list was the price - £39!!! But the fact is you do have to buy it. It's simple, clear, and introduces key matters in a very simple matter. It is the fact that they know every student has to read this book that they can charge so much for it. But even so, it really is a great book, so I'd say buy it. The cost of my reference books has really blown me (I'm only in my first year of a speech and language therapy course) but unfortunaltely a lot of the books really do have to be read and re-read and so have to be bought. I'd probably say the yearly expense for books for a student on an applied science course is about £300 - there's no getting away from it. All esential reference books are at least £25+ so just buy them and try not to feel too bitter. This book is best for someone who hasn't had too much experience in the SALT world and needs introduction to terminology and so forth. It also show you how much a relation speech therapy has in relation to so many other areas such as biology and neurology and physiology. A must buy!
