Writing the Winning Dissertation: A Step-by-Step Guide

Some books written by academics can leave me cold for 2 reasons :-
1: Am I really that thick ? I just don't get it !
2: I've wasted my time !
3: I've wasted my money !

This book on the other hand came as a timely surprise.

Another 'dissertation guide' was very dissapointing and I didn't look forward to the continual trawl of the 'net for crumbs of information, however this one exceeded my expectations.

Here's a few reasons why :-

-Very easy to read ( even when I was tired )

-Logical in its explanations ( makes sense to me )
-Lots AND lots of examples ( eg how to define a question / locate specific resources )
-Explains the process in a sequential path, with minor deviations that inform rather than confuse
-It is VERY specific and yet not to the point of being dogmatic

Dissertation writing is not the dark art it first appears (or as some would like it to be seen as)

If you only buy one book, I would recommend this one

As someone who works privately with students, helping them with dissertations, I highly recommend this book. When students contact me in regard to assistance with their dissertation, I recommend that they buy this book and use it as a reference. As stated in the title, this book provides a step-by-step guide. The information contained in this book anticipates and answers many of the questions that students have about the dissertation process. It is the most practical book about writing a dissertation that I have come across in recent years.
