Media Control: The Spectacular Achievements of Propaganda

Essentially, this book has enlightened me (a British teenager) on the topic of American media control.
It is well worth it, and can be either be dipped in-and-out of by the reader, or read in around a one hour stint. Altogether, in both scenarios the book delivers on it's purpose. Chomsky writes well, and portrays his views of slogans such as "Support our troops" in an interesting fashion. And this is the overall outlook of the book; very, very interesting.

Absolutely brilliant! Chomsky should be essential reading for everyone from as soon as you are able to read. I've made the book an essential part of the course that I teach on, as his ability to research and present an objective political analysis is beyond compare.

Absoloutely brilliant, very informative and eye opening. Only thing it may lack is detail and depth, however that is inherent in such a short book. Definately worth the read, and very accessible for anyone, very easy to read.

my one question? - in the context of the content, how is this information allowed to circulate so freely. would there not be some means of shutting it down,? How (to put it bluntly) has Noam survived?, if not physically then at least academically? if there is such a strong, central power-base that is self-aware enough to see the potential fragility of their methods, why would they allow this work to be distributed.

to me that says, that either the powers aren't as competent as I had feared.. or... Noam Chomsky is a genuine hero who's memes should be treasured beyond measure.

from the way this book reached me, I'd plump for the latter.

Unlike many of Chomsky's other political books this one is somewhat easier to read and the points it gets across are lucidly put
It is also short and would make an excellent introduction to his work and ideas
