Understanding and Using English Grammar

I'm sure this was amazing when it first came out. It's still a valuable resource, but now there are so many ESL books out there, it no longer is the "Bible" it once was. It's very useful for explaining specific grammar points, but the relationship to context is weak, which is the newer approach to language learning. I recommend it as a reference book for ESL teachers and advanced learners who want to understand grammatical structure. "Fun With Grammar" is an excellent companion, providing interactive practice following Azar's format.

I like this book a lot. It's very useful in the class and colorful pictures shows vivid examples. Great book. The CD ROM is helpful as well. Good for inside class teaching and stay home self study.

It is good for advanced learner if you have learned english grammar for a while. This book can really induce you to speak english using correct grammar, not just using correct grammar for writing. In addition, you can learn grammar all by yourself step by step.
