Easy to read and comprehend, not overly difficult to grasp the concepts being covered either. This book is well written and informative.

Check it out.

An Unexpected Surprise
~ Written on Jun 1, 2009. 2 out of 3 users found this review helpful.

I purchased this textbook because it was required for the Intro to Social Psychology course at the University of Iowa. I was a bit apprehensive about it, because I've never had a book in this format before.

The book reads more like a novel than a textbook. There are no tables or charts, no end-of-chapter reviews, no lists of ideas or concepts to be mastered.

On the other hand, the book does have bold words throughout (which the student should become familiar with), a glossary, and a great index, and list of authors mentioned in the book, including the page numbers they were mentioned on.

I found this textbook was much more enjoyable to read than any other textbook that I have had before, and the index allowed me to locate any particular information I desired to know in a matter of seconds. This feature makes up for the book not being a traditional textbook. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in social psychology - it's a great read, and while learning a lot, you won't feel like you're being bogged down by traditional textbook reading at all.

Social Psych

I am finding The Social Animal to be quite interesting. It seems to cover the relevent information thoroughly, and yet fails to be boring in doing so. Aronson is,of course, the father of social psychology, and that alone would make this a must read for anyone interested in the subject, but Aronson also makes the subject fun as well as educational.
