Here is a concise summary of French grammar for students and translators whose first language is English. Topics covered include parts of speech, sentence structure, punctuation, idioms, and pronunciation advice. The book is small in size but packed with helpful instruction. It makes a fine quick-reference supplement to standard French language textbooks. The new edition is printed in two colors to enhance student comprehension and emphasize important points.

If you are looking to learn the technical aspect of French, then this book is for you. I bought the Italian version and I have a better understanding of sentence structure after reading through it.

Quick Review of French Grammar
~ Written on Apr 25, 2008. 2 out of 2 users found this review helpful.

"Barron's French Grammar" is a good, quick review of French grammar, but it's not for beginners. Beginners would probably not find this book very helpful because the explanations are to brief. For example, the book only devotes one page to the subjunctive, which is useless. The subjunctive is too complicated to be explained in only one page. But this book is a good, quick reference for those who need it. For a more detailed explanation of French grammar, I recommend Side-By-Side French and English Grammar.

Great little pocket book to carry to French class when you need a quick guide to look something up.

Even as we speak
~ Written on Mar 17, 2004. 8 out of 8 users found this review helpful.

This is written for adults and set out in a way so the reader can find quick and accurate answer to her questions. It's a smooth synthesis of French vocabulary and grammar; nothing inspired or creative. The book is organized just the way you would expect and is comfortable to use.
