This is a great buy!!! It is well organized between the english and spanish. This is what my son relies on every day for spanish and he loves it. It is great quality and easy to read. Get this and you won't be disappointed!!!

Great except for one significant omission

I won't add to the comments in the five five-star reviews that have appeared already. This is a good dictionary. My only complaint is that, unbelievably, the editors of the Spanish-English side fail to show the correct phonetic detail (allophones) for the phoneme /d/ when it appears between vowels (and certain other environments). The chart of pronunciation symbols of Spanish consonants (p. VIII) shows the variations for /b/ (i.e., [b] and [beta-symbol]) and for /g/ (i.e., [g] and [gamma-symbol]) (sorry; phonetic symbols don't get shown correctly, so I spelled them out). The entries for individual words correctly show the appropriate allophone. See, for example, "abuelo" and "agua". Having gone to all this trouble (helpful trouble), why did the editors not do the same for the variants of /d/ ([d] and ['eth' symbol])? For example, the pronunciation of "cada" should not be shown as [ka-da] but as [ka- [eth symbol]a]. I hope future editions or printings will rectify this.

    Very useful dictionary

Our ESL students found that this was a good dictionary for people wanting to increase their vocabulary. It is not so big as to make it difficult to carry to and from class.

    Perfect for text research

Barron's seems to be the only dictionary series with syllable keys for most of the words, so this is invaluable for text analysis researchers.

It also includes a nice grammar section, very durable cover, and free online download (in Palm Pilot format).

Without a doubt the best dictionary series out there. I have German and Spanish, and they are both top notch.

    Very Thorough

I'm taking Elementary Spanish so our Spanish teacher recommended we get a Spanish-English Dictionary. I've already used it in class... and I'll need it to translate something from the Easy Spanish Reader.
My classmates took a look at it was very impressed! I recommend it!!! You can look up English Words AND the Spanish word. It's thick, so you know, but for good reasons!
