Wonderful Book
~ Written on Sep 11, 2009. out of users found this review helpful.

I brought this book for my grandson from the grocery store. I hadn't heard of it but it was really cheap, maybe $2, and he was about one year old then. His PaPa would read to him every other weekend when he was over, and he loved it... He loved it so much that he actually memorized the words. So when my grandson picked up the book and started reading to us needless to say we were amazed. He's three years old now and still loves to read this book. I am very happy that I picked up this book in the most unlikely place ever. I would recommend it to all little boys.

A Classically Charming, Tactile Experience of Snow Play
~ Written on Sep 4, 2009. out of users found this review helpful.

The Snowy Day is a simple, elegant story about a little boy's experience with snow. It is very tactile, showing rather than telling the reader about snow's characteristics as the little boy interacts with it visually, manually, and imaginatively. In one charming scene, he puts a snowball into his pocket "for later" before entering his warm house, and is disappointed later to find that it is gone.

This story really captures a child's wonder at experiencing snow for the first time. The collage-type art is interesting and unusual, and it makes a very nice addition to your winter reading basket. Probably best for the 2-4 age range, although older children are also able to appreciate it.

Best Picture Book EVER!

This is a must have for every child's home library. My children (8 and 6 yrs.) still love this book, and like to act out walking in the snow "with toes pointed in and out", just like Peter. Beautifully crafted, written and illustrated. Don't hesitate! Buy it now!

Perfectly charming

When Peter woke up and found the world blanketed in a layer of snow, it was just the start of a fun-filled day. There are so many fun things to do on a snowy day!

This cute little book is about an African-American child named Peter who has fun on a winter's day, and his fun is infectious. It's a perfectly charming book, one that is sure to please any young reader - especially on a winter's evening. I think that this is a great book, and I don't hesitate to recommend it.
