Phonics Pathways: Clear Steps to Easy Reading and Perfect Spelling

I'm very pleased with these products. the website [...] is very helpful with sample pages and an explanation of how to use these books and why they are formatted the way they are. I purchased this and reading pathways, which is a supplemental reader to the phonics pathways. If your only buying one you'll want the phonics pathways. This book shows you the order to teach the phonics sounds and rules, starting with your short vowels. You go over the pages with your child, however this is not a book of worksheets. I supplement with worksheets, magnetic letters, foam letters (for in the bath), bathtub crayons etc. I also use the website[...] it has GREAT worksheets and computer games, you can use together or independent of each other, to teach letter recognition and sounds. [...] is another great website with links to all sorts of great stuff! Enjoy and happy learning!

I won't be adding anything new to this conversation with this review other than a funny story which speaks to the success of Phonics Pathways:

My 5 yo dd, who is only on page 52 of the book recently said to my husband and me, "Mommy and Daddy, how are you going to keep secrets from me now that I can understand what you are spelling?" Like every parent, we are used to spelling things to each other to keep surprises, well, surprising. No longer can we do this. 9 out of 10 times, she figures it out.

Yay Phonics Pathways!

Received the book quickly. My son is enjoying using the workbook and within a couple of weeks is remembering his short vowel sounds. I'm excited to get to watch him learn to read!

I have used this book on two of my children and the results are amazing. They both finished midway through their first grade year and are reading beyond their expected level with so much ease. I have two more to teach and I would not consider using anything else. A great easy approach to phonics.

As a literacy tutor, I have nothing but good to say about this program. I have seen children who were well below benchmark in reading meet and exceed benchmark using this program in tutoring sessions. When I started using this book, I had no experience in teaching reading - just a core understanding that phonics was the most effective method to teach reading for almost all children. I have used several other phonics books and methods - all much pricier than this - and have seen no greater levels of achievement. For that reason, I endorse this book 100%. You can't beat it for the price - in fact, you can't beat it for a lot more in price.

I am not saying it is the most fun reading program I have ever seen. But if you want a fun reading program with all the bells and whistles - you won't get it for [...] bucks. And it won't teach your child to read any better than this program will.
