EDITORIAL REVIEW

Cumulative vocabulary lists for the 40 chapters of WheelockÂ’s Latin. The list for each chapter contains all the words for that chapter as well as for all chapters preceding; e.g., the chapter 10 list includes all the words introduced in chapters 1-10, usefully sorted by part of speech; nouns and adjectives are further sorted by declension, and verbs by conjugation; all English meanings are included, as are macrons and accents. WheelockÂ’s Latin is AmericaÂ’s best-selling introductory college-level Latin text, with sales for the Series package (basal text, Workbook, and Reader) totalling over 50,000 copies per year; production of the proposed Cumulative Vocabulary Lists is timed to coincide with release of the new 6th Edition, Revised, of the text, which, with its new hardback edition, online audio for vocabulary, and online teacherÂ’s guide, will likely experience further growth in sales, including an expanded secondary-school market.

ABOUT THIS BOOK

USER REVIEWS

Gives exactly what it promises

Any teacher using Wheelock will instantly recognize the utility of a book that lets one know precisely what vocabulary a student has met up to a particular chapter. I like writing stories for my kids and this book helps me know exactly which words I need to gloss. Note to Mr. LaFleur and Mr. Tillery: A similar book on grammar points would be useful.

Surprisingly useful

This was a required item for a course I am taking.

It seemed like an awful lot of money for a chapter-by-chapter vocab list...BUT

I have already used it several times and I can see that it is going to be very handy. For those of you out there who are NOT keeping up with your word lists as you study (and you know who you are) this list sorts out all the verbs and nouns by conjugation and declension. A very comforting thing to have on the night before THE TEST.
