Amazing Book!
~ Written on Oct 25, 2009. out of users found this review helpful.

Just bought this book, and received it yesterday. My daughter, who is 4, has literally not put it down.
As a Christian in today's society it's so hard to instill the values and morals in our children that we so dearly value. Books like this are clearly a Godsend and I cannot even begin to describe how amazing this book is.
From the beautiful scrolly writing to the vivid pictures, God's promise is delivered in an amazing and memorable way that my daughter will remember her whole life.
If you are a Christian and you want your child to stay pure for her one and only, do buy this and invest in your child's present and future.
The boy's version is a bit drawnout and not as straight to the point, but also recommended.

A must for all little girls!

Almost every little girl dreams of being a princess of some sort and has her own version of her own "knight in shining armor" riding on a "white horse". While this book contains no horses with dashing and rich young rider, it is definitely all princess! It bares many similarities to the classic fairy tale: a princess in need of her own personal hero. However, the book puts a needed and refreshing twist on the reality of life. Instead of falling over the first guy who shows interest in her (thereby giving away her precious purity and committing to life with a young man too hastily), this young princess is a wise one, looking at the character of each young man in question. In classic fairytale fashion, many outwardly appealing men and their marriage offers fall short of her standards. The princess despairs, as does every girl at one point in life, but the virtue of waiting and the contentment of waiting on God's time becomes a serious theme. In the end, she is rewarded for her wait and the humble farmer - committed, loving, godly and pure - comes to be HER hero.

Little girls in this day and age are bombarded with lies about boys, how to act around them and what should be expected of them. TV, media, books and sadly even peers, influence these young and vulnerable hearts to think that they need to be willing to give up the precious gifts God has bestowed on them in order to get what they want. This book instead paints the picture of godly purity: encouraging young girls - and their impressionable hearts - to wait, look at reality and above all, look to the Lord who has a perfect plan for her if she's willing to follow.

May this book be a blessing in your house as it has been in ours! We have used this not only in our home but I (as a summer camp counselor) have had the chance to share the story (and it was enjoyed!) with many young girls over the last two years. Praise be to God for using Mrs. Bishop as a tool to reach out to the young girls.

A little cheesey

I recommend this book for parents who are trying to teach their children purity for marriage and courtship relationships instead of casual dating. I think some of these low star ratings are ridiculous, but I won't waste my time responding to their ignorant comments. This book is obviously faith-based. If you don't have faith, dating morals or any desire for your children to save themselves physically (not even going as far as sex) until marriage, then why would you consider buying this book? Apparently these parents have sex on their mind with their constant reference to 'the kiss' as being losing their virginity. When I read it it was pretty clear that what this book was talking about was A KISS! I guess it's too out of the sex-driven American norm to think that someone would wait for the right man before they gave away a kiss.

It's a bit ignorant to think that a toddler is too young for this book. Do you parents really think that 5 year olds in public school don't learn a thing about sex? Why would you allow them to be taught about sex before teaching them about purity? I bought it when my daughter turned three and she loves it. The boyfriend/girlfriend teasing has already started with her (from other adults even) and we're trying to teach her something different. If you support dating until they're 10 (like these low star rating parents are recommending) then break out this CHEESEY purity book, do you really think your hormonal pre-teen is going to care what you're saying? Train them young, there's a small small window in a child's life to gain their respect and help them in making decisions for themselves. This mindset isn't about 'forbidding a teenager to date' it's about teaching a child as they grow (starting with toddlerhood!) that it IS possible to make decisions to keep yourself pure for your husband and to show them how that decision could positively or negatively impact their lives. If we keep teaching our children as we've been taught (and how many of us really stayed pure until marriage?) they're going to keep acting as we've acted. It's going to take something out of the ordinary (something quite old fashioned, back when marriages actually LASTED) to encourage them not to let their first 8th grade boyfriend round third base with them.

Great Service

Princess & the Kiss: A Story of God's Gift of PurityWe bought this as a birthday gift for our grandaughter on the recommendation of her mother.

Perfect purity teaching for a daughter or a son!
~ Written on Jun 15, 2009. out of users found this review helpful.

Originally we bought this book to give to our daughter as a gift to be presented with her purity ring at the age of 12. My husband read the book to her before presenting her with the ring. It was just beautifully written and was a fabulous springboard for the discussion of God's perfect plan for her life. Several years later as we were discussing how to create such a perfect presentation to our 13 year old son and we pulled this book out. Happily we realized how perfect it was to teach our son which man received the princess' heart and "kiss"...it was not any of the worldy, stout, arrogant men..it was the hardworking, humble farmer who had placed his relationship with God and his purity as a priority. This book once again provided a great springboard discussion and lesson before presenting our son with his purity symbol.
