For me this is a great general reference book and usually the first one I go to when I have a gardening related question. It has helped me identify common pests and learn to treat them all without yucky pesticides. This has been especially helpful to me since I moved across the country and from USDA zone 9 to zone 4 - the problems and issues are VERY different.

My 10 year old son has also taken an interest in gardening and he will also often get this out so we can get some general info about a specific plant or problem.

Excellent Resource!

Simply put this is an amazing book! The new version (1992) is much better written than the older version I own (1975). Of course having more than one can give you different perspectives.
