EDITORIAL REVIEW

Percy Jackson’s seventh-grade year has been surprisingly quiet. Not a single monster has set foot on his New York prep-school campus. But when an innocent game of dodgeball among Percy and his classmates turns into a death match against an ugly gang of cannibal giants, things get . . . well, ugly. And the unexpected arrival of Percy’s friend Annabeth brings more bad news: the magical borders that protect Camp Half-Blood have been poisoned by a mysterious enemy, and unless a cure is found, the only safe haven for demigods will be destroyed.

In this fresh, funny, and hugely anticipated follow up to The Lightning Thief, Percy and his friends must journey into the Sea of Monsters to save their beloved camp. But first, Percy will discover a stunning new secret about his family -- one that makes him question whether being claimed as Poseidon’s son is an honor or simply a cruel joke.

I have started this series of books for my niece who is 10. She loves reading and really enjoys series so she can get to know the characters. She loves the books.

this series has all the charm and excitement of harry potter but with an american attitude. sure they're a tiny bit less genius plot-wise, but really over all they're fantastic reads. percy is such a lovable hero and the world he lives in is incredibly rich and intriguing. DEFINITELY give these books a read.

Riordan Delivers Again!

Riordan delivers another winner! Sea of Monsters is fun, exciting, and action packed. Perhaps not as awesome as the first one, but it's great - almost as good as The Lightning Thief,

It started out with a bang which is a gift Riordan has with his writing, slowed down slightly through the middle but picked up supersonic speed at the end. I enjoy all the characters. Even the villains become like family - the annoying black sheep of the family but they're nothing if not interesting. Everyone in the book is a blast - including Hades!

The mythology is inventive and Riordan's ability to mix it into a fantastical tale without being boring is brilliant. The vivid description never bogs the story down.

If you want fast, fun, creative and just plain awesome pick up The Sea of Monsters or any book in this series. You won't be sorry!

Great for Teen Boys!

I can only say that I could not get my Son to read at all. He was told by his 7th grade English Teacher that he HAD to pick a book and bring it to class every day. I did some research and came across this series. He is now on book 2 and I am happy to say, he is still thoroughly enjoying it. I would suggest this for anyone, but especially a child who is apprehensive to read! We have since passed on book 1 to a girl the same age and she is hooked as well.

He's baa...ack. Percy Jackson, that is.

In the second installment of the Olympians series, Percy Jackson joins forces with a new companion, a Cyclops and oh-by-the-way-he's-a-half-brother--Tyson. Together, they undertake a quest to find a cure for the poison that has left Camp Half-Blood vulnerable to attack. This series, based on the mythology of the Greek Gods, is very original and very hip. Author Rick Riordan always keeps the story moving forward with loads of action!

For fans of the first, don't worry! All the characters we grew to love in the first book make an appearance too. It's pure reading fun!
