My son is taking a research class. I have taken two graduate level research classes so was curious to see what this text was like. I am impressed with the concise way in which the basis for research is covered. The text is readable and the information organized in a user friendly format. Excellent.

This third updated edition of a research classic appears in a spiral format perfect for lay-flat consultation and blends traditional research methods with options on using and evaluating electronic research technologies. Examples and tips provide the latest details on styles, Internet search tools, online databases and more and discuss e-Books to illustrate the new digital resources presented. Any reference library strong in digital research options needs this.

there are better books on research available.

This book is not what I was expecting. It's an overly simplified explanation of library research that doesn't offer much by way of useful information, giving just enough information to make a researcher dangerous but not enough to make him good. Tensen tries to explain things, but ultimately, it's clear she's not a librarian.

The textbook I ordered, Research Strategies for a Digital Age, arrived on time and in perfect condition. I would definitely recommend this book. It's a good reference for any undergraduate or graduate student. One of the best features is a comprehensive explanation of APA format for research papers, as well as the MLA and CMS formats.
