Love this book!

I use this book as a reference often. I have purchased it for friends having babies, but it is broader than that. If you are a dreamer, there may be hidden meaning in a name. If you are into people and like to understand them better, this may be helpful. Not only does it give the meaning of the name, but also the renewed meaning with promise.

less than what I hoped for

This book does have a lot of names, however most of them are jewish. That doesnt help us at all. It really only has about 20 or so good names, Andrew, Matthew, Marcus, etc. and they can probably be found in any other baby name book. It does offer a scripture with each one, bt I anticipated that this would be the scripture where each name was found, well that is not the case. I am not sure how the author decided which particular scripture went with each name. It offers multiple spellings for each name, which is a neat feature. However if you scan the simple list in the book and see a name you like, you mat not be able to find it in the description section because the alternate spellings/forms are not cross-referenced with the root names. If that doesnt make sense, what I mean is that we found some names on the list in back but couldnt find them in the description section because they must have been considered alternate forms of some other name that we couldnt figure out. And for some reason they also include all of the evil names in the Bible too, I dont understand that. All in all, I would say there must be better baby name books out there.

The Name Book

The Name Book lists many new and old names. I was surprised to see my name as well as my daughter's name in there as our names are somewhat unique. I was very pleased with this book and you will be too.

this is a great book for learning the meaning of names and the spiritual significance. i like the fact that each name has a scripture to go with it. this book also has some hard-to-find names in it. i am an art teacher and every year i have a name "picture" done for my senior students that has the meaning, the spiritual connotation and the scripture, i put them in nice frames . the students tell me it was such a great gift. my juniors wait eagerly for thiers the following year.

Hard to find name meaning book like this

I ordered this book after looking at a copy my friend had. I just love the meanings of names & especially ones that involve spiritual connotation & a scripture. This book is great. Though it does not have every name known it has a lot. Since my son's name was not in it, I found a few others that were close & then picked the one I thought suited him the best.
