EDITORIAL REVIEW

A solid foundation for learning all aspects of the sounds of singing, this manual is highly recommended as an aid for singers and teachers. Widely adopted as an auxillary text, the book is designed specifically so that singers can lead themselves through the text.

USER REVIEWS

This ISBN has been out of print since 1994......

ISBN 1934477060 is the current IN PRINT edition. While NO CONTENT has changed I continue to see music professors specify the Caldwell/PST ISBN while the bookstores actually stock the Pacific Isle Publishing edition, ISBN 1934477060. Those unfortunate students who search online for the PST book ISBN pay from $70 to $250 for a well-used book out of print since 1994, both PST and Caldwell Publishing having gone out of business and the author now contracted with Pacific Isle Publishing.

There is NO Teacher's edition. Both editions are instructional handbooks.

A very good way to introduce IPA to young singers
~ Written on Dec 24, 2002. 10 out of 10 users found this review helpful.

I absolutely love this book. It is by far the best publication I have found to teach young singers the basics of the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA). I found it very easy to understand and their are excellent charts for easy references. Although there are a few ocassional exceptions to rules that could be more easily explained, the basics are taught well. It receives my highest recommendation as a vocal instructor.

A Very Helpful Book for Singers!

This book provides the reader/singer with exersises that will help them with diction, communication, pronounciation, and other techniques needed to be an expert singer. If you want to learn the "rules" of singing correctly--here's a good way to start!
