Great language dictionary
~ Written on Jun 23, 2009. out of users found this review helpful.

I've had the pleasure of adding this one to my Russian language studies, and I have used it to write my Russian girlfriend a love letter in the cyrillic. (Although she can speak English) she thought it was very romantic. So, if your involved with a lady from Russia or thinking about it, this is the book for you. Also good with a self study course.

Excellent tool for students and "lovers" of Russian
~ Written on Feb 22, 2007. 1 out of 1 users found this review helpful.

the English-Russian Dictionary-Phrasebook of Love is an essential tool for students of the Russian language and for anyone romantically involved with a Russian native speaker. The dictionary covers: main words i.e., a generous amount of romantic words and phrases (about 700 pages of words, terms and phrases) in alphabetical order.

The dictionary also includes sub-categories (terms & phrases under a main word), each word listed is followed by its abbreviated parts of speech, (n for nouns, V for verbs), the use of accents so that the students learning Russian can practice proper stress, and equally or more importantly, it differentiates between women's and men's speech. Lastly, as a previous reviewer stated, the dictionary contains 21 appendices that cover subject from Russian grammar, time zones, metric measurements, and clothing sizes to common Russian female names and nicknames.

If you are romantically involved with a Russian native speaker and desire to impress him or her with a starry-eyed phrase in the Russian language, this book is for you. However, a word to the wise - this book provides Russian phrases using the Cyrillic alphabet, so some mastery of the Russian language is expected. Worth the money.

Phrasebook of Love is an understatement!
~ Written on Nov 28, 2003. 5 out of 5 users found this review helpful.

I have been attempting to learn Russian now for a year and a half. This book has proven to be very helpful both in learning new terms, but also the complexities of Russian Grammar. The premise of this book is to teach someone not just how to write in Russian, but to write it in a manner to convey emotional and passiontate feelings. It takes a little time to get the feel of the book and how to use it, but once you get started, it has many phrases that you can pull out of the entries, and use with others. If you are looking for a book to learn Russian with, this book is more suitable for those who have gotten past the basics of pronounciation and reading the Russian alphabet, an advanced beginner or intermediate Russian student. However, it really brings out the ideas once you start.

Too Bad...so promising....so difficult

What a disappoint this book is....BUT....for one reason and one reason only....the russian translation IS IN THE RUSSIAN ALPHABET!!!! Do you believe it????...and not a word about how to pronounce the words.....other than that....this is the BEST book around for the volume and variety of love phrases..unfortunately, it is worthless for me as I wanted to be able to say the words...not spend an hour getting the English alphabet Translation of the written Russian alphbet translation..so...if your honey is right next to you and you can show her the Russian equivilant you are home free...otherwise you'll be out of luck on this one....darn!!!
