USER REVIEWS

Intriguing and Interesting Movie.

This is a very classic film noir that deserves all the accolades it has received. Fred MacMurray does an excellent job of his role and Edward G. Robinson is especially stellar. Barbara Stanwyck does an excellent job of the acting, although, I personally don't think she has the classic face of a femme fatale. The story centers around her convincing Fred MacMurray's character to commit murder. And then Edward G. Robinson's character of the Insurance Claims Manager who tries to figure out how to get out of paying the steep insurance reward. The plot is complex and the plan intricate. There are some predictable twists and then some unpredictable twists. It all makes for an intriguing and intresting film.

Double the fun!

This is as good as it gets in 1944. Based on the James M Cain novel and with a screenplay co-written by Raymond Chandler and Billy Wilder, this film has it all. Career performances by Barbara Stanwyck, Fred MacMurray and Edward G Robinson guided by the brilliant direction of Billy Wilder make this one of the best films ever to come out of Hollywood.

The screenplay explodes with just the right dialogue. Fabulous lighting by John F Seitz and a great musical score by Miklos Rozsa combine so that there is never a dull moment.

If you like film, you will love Double Indemnity. You owe it to yourself to have this in your film library.

This masterpiece of casting , writing and directing(imho),is a 5 star noir special.Note; Is the man sitting outside Keyes(Robinson) office the first time Neff(Fred Mac) walks out, Raymond Chandler? This is Film Noir at its best.Babs , Fred and Eddie G ,were never better and the Wilder/Chandler writing combo is legendary ...contains 2 commentarys and one bad remake..and a so-so transfer.(Fred Mac would have made a great Marlowe)
