The two-disc DVD featuring the original 1995 documentary winner of the 1996 New York Festival World Silver Medal. Pre embodied the spirit of athletic excellence. He had a belief in self and sport that transcended all but the outer reaches of human speed and endurance. As a freshman, he appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated, which hailed him as America's Distance Prodigy;. By the time he died in a tragic auto accident at the age of 24, Pre held all 7 American records between 2,000 and 10,000 meters. Off the track, he fought relentlessly for the rights of amateur athletes to prosper for their sacrifices. Narrated by Ken Kesey, Fire On the Track is the story of this young lion's life, as told through rare footage and the memories of those who knew him best - his teammates, coaches, family and friends. The second disk had a serious manufacturing defect making it unwatchable. I discarded the receipt when I received the item so I probably cannot return the DVD. I'm very dissatisfied I paid this much money for a product that had a serious and very visible manufacturing defect.
I am not a runner nor do I watch running. I saw "Without Limits" and fell in love with Steve. I bought everything about him...movies, this documentary, the book, and a "GO PRE" shirt. I even spoke to his mother about him. She was so sweet to me. I must have seen the movie "Without Limits" over a dozen times. I was so touched by his story that it made me cry! I wanted to know about him. I didn't realize how handsome and kind-hearted he was. A fighter for the underdog is what he called himself. He was truly AMAZING! I love PRE!!
Great documentary about a great runner and a great human being from people who knew he on and off the track, and the impact he had on many whom he never knew.
Hey Yall. I had just got finished reading "Bowerman and the Men of Oregon". This was a great suppliment to the Prefontaine chapter. I had watched: Pre and found this to be a better installment, due to the fact it is not hollywoodized. Prefontaine in the flesh. You gotta appreciate the legacy he started with the AAU, and Nike. Pre still lives!!!!
Felt like going out and trying to run a 4 minute mile. Well made with plenty of interviews. I will definately be watching this dvd pre-race. SIMILAR ITEMS: |
