Fun Book on Everyday Language
~ Written on Jan 4, 2007. 1 out of 1 users found this review helpful.

This is a book which has a funny approach on everyday language. Words and sentences that once seemed to have no sense at all are now explained. While the meaning of these expressions might be widely known for native speakers, it is a good reference for foreigners who are willing to excel in English language, even in its weirdest senses. Beware that you can't go saying everything you read on this book to anybody anywhere if your intention is to be polite...

Do We Really Need A Book on How To Cuss!
~ Written on Aug 11, 2006. 3 out of 27 users found this review helpful.

I suppose I should never have picked up this book and read it in the first place. The use of the profane language in the book is highly offensive.

If one takes only a few minutes to listen to the language of people on the street, then I wonder why do we really need a book on how to speak profanity.

I am not a prude by any means, so don't take my review the wrong way, but ink and paper could have certainly gone for a better cause.

this is hilarious!

This book is not only hilarious, it's quite witty as well. Pick it up for an entertaining light read.

This book made me laugh so hard I p*ssed in my pants. Now I keep it in the bathroom with English as a Second F*ucking Language, where filfhy literature like this belongs.

Give this guy a Bronx cheer!!

Once again, Dr. Johnson has elucidated some of the darkest (and funniest) corners of the human mind and human speech. His "grasp" of the language is impressive, his "ear" for subtleties true, and his "delivery" powerful and overwhelming. I think Dr. Johnson should start an Institute for Correct Speech, Thinking and Living. His example shines before the world like a beacon of sanity in the darkness of this gloomy age.
