Really helped

I was diagnosed with diabetes almost a year ago and I've been trying to figure out what I can and can't eat ever since. I've read several books, magazines and web sites and I've found this book has given me the most useful information. I just haven't figured out the advantages to buckwheat yet.

Pre Diabetic Information

This is a very good book for someone like me who is pre-diabetic. I haven't read the book all the way throught yet, that can be overwhelming, but I look at different sections as I find more questions that I want answered. So far, I am very pleased with this book and I highly recommend it for anyone who is diabetic or pre-diabetic.

It gets better when you re-read, re-read it.

I skimmed through the book when I first received it, and was not impressed. But on re-reading and re-re-reading, and paying more attention to what the author has to say, I did find it helpful. I am newly diagnosed with diabetes and have much to learn. This book includes a lot of practical suggestions. I'm still re-re-reading, dog-earing sections for later reference.

I have diabetes all over in my family, so I was NOT surprised when my doc decided to assume I had gestational diabetes right from the start of my pregnancy.

However, both my mom and her dad don't take good care of themselves, so I didn't have any good role models for what I should be eating. I knew what NOT to eat...but not what I should focus on instead.

The nurse that spoke with me (NOT a nutritionist) was way off in her diet recommendations, this book helped me eat again! I sat and read it in just a few days, it has great advice and was easy to understand. I don't generally use it as a reference, but I'm glad I read it early on.
