Idioms are phrases and sentences that do not mean exactly what they say. Even if you know the meaning of every word in the see or hear, you may not understand the idiom because you don't understand the culture behind it. Proverbs are wise sayings that help teach lessons.

This is idiom site with a difference- they add pictures to try to make the idioms clearer and easier to learn. They also include a proverbs section. The site is maintained, though not that frequently and the list is restricted, presumably because of the work involved in making the pictures.
