We have just released a brand new Reading Comprehension section. This area contains a selection of text-based reading comprehension exercises, many of which are based on ESL examination questions including Cambridge ESOL, TOEFL, IELTS and other major exams.
During the day yesterday, Thursday 9th March, UsingEnglish.com suffered from a huge traffic load which resulted in our entire server crashing. As a result, the site was unavailable from about 13:00 GMT to about 23:00 GMT.
Well I finally resolved the problem with our shop, as I stated earlier, and it's now up and running fully again (and slightly improved).
However, we've had some data files get corrupted in our polls area and so the entire thing is out-of-order! :-( I am currently asking our hosts to restore all of the data for the polls section from backup, and I'll let you know when it's up and running again.
Running a site is never a simple job, you know!
Our shop has been out of action for the last couple of days due to server issues which have now been resolved.
