even if it's more correct, i still don't understand the thing with the tanks.
is the narrator saying that they wanted to send tanks on the bridge and now, they can't anymore because it's destroyed? and it could HAVE BEEN a pain if they have sent them?
or am i wrong?
My translation would be:-

I don't think we'll regret blowing (up) that bridge, because you never know if they would have wanted to send tanks onto the bridge. And now they can't any more because it's (it has been) destroyed, and it could have been a pain if they had sent them.
