A friend of mine from the States once told me he felt angry when someone used "the daughter of yours" to refer to his daughter.
Why ?
"Your daughter" of course is just a normal expression. When people say "that/the daughter of yours" it often means they are going to say something critical of your daughter. That daughter of yours is so rude!

So to be a little angry (or maybe worried) is an understandable reaction.
