I thought it was George Harrison who first used the phrase (possibly after a day's filming, rather than recording); but pop trivia isn't really my thing

I still think it was John rather than Paul, though, who decided to use it in a song. (This is only a guess, and I certainly wouldn't make a big thing of defending the view.)
