Default despite the discrepancies in volume?
"Despite the discrepancies in volume, red wine, white wine and brandy all contain one unit of alcohol."

I'm confused about the meaning of the former half of this sentence. Is it saying that no matter how much you drink, those drinks mentioned all contain one unit of alcohol?
