Are you certain it is a first conditional you want? That structure is a condition in the present that, if satisfied will produce the stated result in the future.
With your facts, I can offer these:
If my uncle doesn't write better, his novels won't sell.
If my uncle doesn't sell more novels, he won't be a writer for long.
