I believe they're identical! :D
Yep, quite often they mean the same thing. They are used somewhat differently though to some extent. A Google search turned up:

"die from" = 510,000
"die from eating" = 1,640
"die from ingesting" = 266
"die from inhaling" = 162

"die of" = 472,000
"die of eating" = 241
"die of ingesting" = 2
"die of inhaling" = 9


Interesting, huh? Well, maybe not.
