How to avoid water pollution along Mekong River

Mekong River, the longest river in Southeast Asia, is the most important river in Cambodia because both in dry season and rainy season people living along Mekong river use water form the river for cultivation and their daily living. However, if we take a closer look at this, Mekong River is being polluted unknowingly. Therefore, if we want to keep our Mekong River clean, there are many things that we can do to avoid water pollution along Mekong River. The first and most important way to do to avoid water pollution of Mekong River is that people living along the river must know how to use water in a very safe way. For example, they must conserve the water by turning off the tap when running water is not necessary. Moreover, people should not throw or flow household wastes into the river. The second way to do is that people should keep their animals away from the river and make sure that their animals must not be cleaned in the river because animals wastes contains the substances that can pollute the water. The third way to avoid water pollution of Mekong River is that people must use a proper cultivation practice. For instance, they should know how to use the amount of pesticides and chemical fertilizers on their crop land because if they use too much chemical fertilizers and pesticides, these chemical substances will be carried into the river when there is water runoff or flood.
