Re: Greetings In Your Language hi... happy new year everybody.. i AM A new member from iraq. i speak Arabic.in Arabic to greet someone we say "alsalam alikum" "السلام عليكم" this is for formal and informal use. but also use "Marhaba" "مرحبا" for informal greeting..in iraq we men meet and sit together the first expression they use when a new person entered the room or the place where they are sitting-not a condition to be a stranger- whoever enters- they say "Allah Bil-kheer" "الله بالخير" .it equalls "hello"..
