When ordering a dog to sit, we say "Sit!"
When training a dog to walk beside you on his leash, the command is "Heel!"
If you want the dog to lay down, you either say "Lay down" or simply "Down," depending upon how he's been trained.
Of course, the command my dog (R.I.P.) understood best was "Suppertime!"
