I'm not completely sure what you are asking but...
1. "She is sitting... " is an action in progress, so the continuous is appropriate for the verb (to sit)
2. "She is next to me" is fine too, but whether she is standing, sitting, dancing, etc...is unknown
3. It is also true she has already seated herself, but that is a state rather than an action (to be seated)
