 the content of my dissertation

I'm the post graduate student major in English writing in China. Now, it is the time for me to decide the content of my dissertation. I choose the issue relating to text analysis. I want to study the current situation of Chinese college students' text features on cohesion and coherence. However, it is an old topic and it is very hard for me to find a good direction.
