A grammar says that "of phrases" usually take "the". I would like to know whether the above sentence sounds a bit awkward or not (because of the usage of two articles). Furthermore, if we have a few "of phrases" in a row, what usually happens to the articles? Do we omit some of them, and if we do - which ones? Thanks! In your example, "the" is required as there are specific shares under discussion - you could lose "the" in front of "name" and "company".
2. "They need to obtain a consent of the Supervisory Board."
Do I need to say the or a consent? I would use "the"
3. Do the words final and total always take "the" (e.g. "the final consent", "the total price").. That will depend on your context. If this is a legal document, then "the" is safer. If it is an article, it is possible that "a" works all right. 4. What is the grammar rule explaining the use of a/an in "an increase of 2 million" and similar? Please clarify what you are asking. Many thanks! | .. |
