Default Subject-verb agreement

Does the use of "are" or "is" depending on the count or uncount noun of the (?) in the following examples:
There aren't any (?) left. > (?) = students
There isn't any (?) left. > (?) =food

There are none (not any?) left. > (?)=stduents
There is none (not any?) left. > (?)=food

Thanks.
