"Once XXX takes effect" or "Once XXX has taken effect"

I’m not sure if I should use "has" here.
Please tell me which is correct.

1. Once the anesthetic takes effect, the part will be surgically opened.

2. Once the anesthetic has taken effect, the part will be surgically opened.
