However
When my friend asked an American teacher if she could say this(English teacher); she told her it's ok you may
I'm confused
What can we call ourselves exactly in the near future
Of course I'm not a native speaker too
Please answer me
Thanks in advance

I prefer
teacher of English
because I`m not a native English speaker, but I have recently discovered that both expressions are correct and interchangeable.
