Just an example of common usage of the words.
  1. I shivered in intense cold.
  2. I trembled with fear.
  3. I shook him up from his slumber.
  4. I shudder to think what can happen if this web site was no longer there.
  5. The intensity of the quake was moderate.
  6. A quiver ran through the people when the elephant ran amok.
I guess the words may not be interchangeable in the above sentences.
