LIE - LAY - LAIN - LYING = irreg. verb[intransitive verb] to recline
LIE [ to] -LIED - LIED - LYING- reg. vb. = not to tell the truth
LAY - LAID - LAID - LAYING -trans. verb [irreg. vb.] to put ; to place
e.g.
I`ve lain in bed for several hours.
I don`t like him because he is always lying to me, or
He lied to her yesterday, when he said he hadn`t come to the party.
I laid the books on the shelf two days ago.
