Nouns (plural) and verbs (3rd person singular in the Present Simple tense) ending in -y preceded by a consonant take -ies as their ending:
city - cities
dry - dries

In other cases (that is, when -y is preceded by a vowel) the ending of nouns and verbs is -ys:
boy - boys
stay - stays
