You should definitely ask your boss how she wants it handled.

One comany I worked at would have other people sign their own name and then write "for" or "on behalf of" next to the signature block of the person it was from.

Another comany would have you sign that person's name in your own hand writing followed by a slash and your initials.

A "forged" signature is when you try to write her name as she would and do nothing to indicate that she was not the person who signed it. Never do that.

And she may prefer that she keep her letters waiting for her in her in-basket, and do nothing with them until she returns.
