"Deploy" is a complicated operation. It can mean "to open" but it is not a simple opening as opening an umbrella or jar of jam. Deploy also means to send out. A general deploys his troops when he sends them into battle.
"
open" should not be used in the second sentence as pointed out in the previous answer. I might use the following rearranged sentence:
The satellite's communication signal was restored when the stuck antenna was freed.
