Are there any phrasal verbs for "to light"? My friend thinks that there is one using a verb, "put." I.e., can we say "To put on a candle" instead?
'light up the candle' wouldn't be the normal neutral way of saying this but I see nothing wrong with it as a way to add emphasis.

He's coming, light up the candles, hurry, hurry.
