Hello Ripley

My English teacher is a real booby: she gave us a test on grammar, using the Conditional, and she told us that all the sentences required the third conditional, so practically, all the sentences had the same structure – it was easy! I hope that I’ll get a good mark!!!
During our school assembly some of my friends and I decided to escape from school in order to go to the woods/hills and chop down a dying tree. You should have seen the ivy that was twisted round it. The tree was huge/enormous and it took us an hour to cut it.
A question arises spontaneously: was it really necessary?
